Jazz: Trinomika

October 22 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm
From £11.50
A jazz band performs on stage under red lights. A drummer plays a red drum kit, a bassist stands behind a double bass, and a saxophonist plays a saxophone.

Bassist Pasquale Votino has been a familiar face on the Bristol jazz scene for over fifteen years, frequently working with fellow Italian Paolo Adamo on drums. Pasquale is now spending more time back in Italy, so catch him while you can.

Pasquale has been leading his Trinomika trio for several years, although musically it is very much a cooperative venture. The group has previously impressed greatly with their well structured set and careful use of the chordless instrumentation, making full use of the available pallet of sounds – a really melodic approach to the sax trio format.

Saxophonist Greg Sterland is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College, and takes us on a trip through the whole history of jazz saxophone. His own Yard Dogs project revisits lesser know gems from the early swing era, and Greg is capable of referencing founding fathers such as Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young through bebop and on to the avant-garde.
