What we’re doing to ensure your safety
COVID safety procedures
To keep in line with government guidelines & keep you & our team safe, we will be asking the following….
1, Reservations are preferable but walk-ins are welcome.
2, Full table service is provided, and orders can be placed via our new online order website. You will find the link to this on your table when you arrive.
3, Before entering The Hen & Chicken, please ensure that you are wearing a face mask (this is a legal requirement) and use the free-standing hand sanitiser station by the front door
4, One of our team will escort you to a free table
5, Once at your table, one of your party must register your presence through the NHS track and trace QR code (this is a legal requirement).
6, Please familiarise yourself with the new tier two government guidelines before visiting.
The Comedy Box Event operations/ COVID safety:
- Hen & Chicken Studio is accessible via the side entrance on Greville Road. Entry to the Studio is not via the pub downstairs.
- Please arrive in your group and have your ticket ready to show.
- Temperature checks are made on entry. Anyone with a temperature in excess of 37.8C will be denied entry.
- Table seating is allocated on arrival. Each table “zone” is separated by 1-metre aisles and 1.5-metre rows.
- Hand sanitiser is available on site.
- Table waiting service via online order site. No cash payments. Drinks will be brought to your table.
- Face coverings are mandatory in the venue but can be removed at the tables.
- Each show will run for 90 minutes approx straight through with no interval.
- Please observe 1-metre distancing when queuing for the toilets. As there is no interval customers are encouraged to use toilets during the show.
- Please observe public announcements within the venue regarding COVID safety.
Always wanting to make the best of circumstances, we used the opportunity of
enforced Covid 19 closure to refurbish as much as possible our ground floor bar area.
Special attention has been given to the ladies & disabled toilets with new floor & wall
tiles, new cubicles, sink unit and even a new window! (previously boarded up)
Also a full re-paint (with new colours!) inside and out, the solid oak floor has been
beautifully sanded and re-oiled, tiling to the back bar, new kitchen floor & walls and a
complete garden makeover with rattan sofas, climbing vines and heaters.
It’s been great to have so much to focus on!
Our Chicken Shed function room has been converted as a cosy overflow restaurant.
Our Studio space upstairs has now re-opened for social distanced stand-up comedy on Saturdays
with comedians performing back to back shows.
