DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Night Improv’s monthly show continues with a triple bill packed with quick wit\, bold characters\, and stories made up on the spot. \nJoin us for a midweek comedy boost featuring three of Bristol’s sharpest improv acts – each one creating a brand-new show right before your eyes\, all inspired by audience suggestions. \n[1] GREENWOOD LANE\nFrom train stations to tile warehouses\, leisure centres to high rises\, with just the suggestion of a place from the audience\, Jack and Vicky conjure an entire world of workers & shirkers\, artists & buskers\, mothers & brothers\, and more. \nJack Greenwood has been practising improv for 8 years. He founded the Bournemouth University Improv Society in 2017; is the Director of Bristol Longform Comedy; has taken two improv shows to the Edinburgh Fringe; has travelled all over the UK with The Groundhogs; and currently performs with Blame of Thrones in Bristol. \nVicky Lane completed her improv training at the Comedy Cafe Berlin\, where she performed with Gummy Worms\, Northern Soul and a host of indie teams. After completing her acting training at the Catalyst Institute Berlin\, she has returned to the UK and is making her mark on the Bristol arts scene. She currently runs and hosts Lip Service Comedy\, Queer Stories spoken word night\, and is establishing her own theatre company in the city. \n[2] TALES FROM THE WASTELAND\nShelter from the nuclear winter inside the safety of our bunker and listen to tales from storytellers from across the wasteland! These tales may feature raiders\, mutants\, adventure – and of course will be entirely made up on the spot\, fuelled by your suggestions! This absurd dark comedy is inspired by shows such as Fallout and Mad Max. \n[3] MUSES\nAn all-star long-form team from some of Bristol’s best improvisers bring you a night of fun\, fancy and frolic. In 2014\, Musician Magazine picked Ant’s third album The Water’s Line as one of their “stand out” releases. \nIn 2019\, Ant began writing Midnight Joanna\, an immersive show inspired by experiences hosting open mics and playing in pubs & piano bars (including the fondly-remembered Illusions Magic Bar where Ant held residency for over 5 years). With a large ensemble of professional musicians & actors – supported by arts organisations ArtHouse Jersey & Creative Island Partnership – Midnight Joanna premiered to three sell-out audiences in October 2024.
